The Hub’s Research Methods for Global Challenges (RMGC) project aims to promote the understanding and application of creative social sciences, arts, and humanities research methods. The project is focused on curating a collection that showcases the range of innovative methods that researchers across our team use.

Here you will find examples of creative research methods curated as bite-sized capsules, including dance, theatre, coffee talks, social cartography, and many more. Each item focuses on a research method, including its application, the challenges and opportunities that it presents, and its contribution to knowledge in the context of addressing specific SDGs.

The key aims of this platform:

  • To support researchers in developing a more holistic approach to global collaborative research.
  • To enhance understanding of the relevance and importance of cultural and subjective values and life practices in relation to Water Security and Sustainable Development.
  • To empower Hub partners and our PhD students and ECRs to be creative, enterprising and innovative in their methodological approaches.

How to engage with these pages:

  • The resources are designed to be non-linear, and readers are encouraged to dip in and out.
  • Look out for suggestions for further readings and projects to discover.
  • You can also find contact details for expert contributors to talk further about incorporating these methods in your research.
  • The resources are designed to spark conversation; we encourage responses and will be continuing to add these as the platform grows over time.
